Battle of Moors & Christians


August 2 is the fiesta of the Mare de Déu dels Àngels, Pollença’s patron saint, which commemorates the victory of Christians over Dragut’s Moorish pirates, who attacked the village on the night of May 30-31, 1550.

The holiday begins after the night time festivities conclude at five in the morning with the municipal band’s version of La Alborada. The celebration continues with a mass in honour of the Mare de Déu dels Àngels at 11.00 a.m. and a performance by the Cossiers, a group of Mallorcan folk dancers.


Fiesta del Carro Triomfal de la Beata


This religious celebration demonstrates the popular fervor by Santa Catalina Thomas. It must be underlined the 'carro triunfal' with the procession of la Beata, apart from other activities as the night festival, theatre, different tournaments, open-air cinema, etc...

On every July the 28th, Valldemossa gets dressed up to celebrate the Fiestas of the Blessed Catalina Tomás. The tradition shows, year after year, a very colourful parade, with carts decked out with colour ribbons and adornments. The village's boys and girls are a fundamental part of the event in wich they have a main role and therefore sweets are offered.



1st World Company Sport Games

JUNE 1 - 4

On June 2016 Mallorca will hold the First World Company Sport Games, organized by the WFCS (World Federation Company Sport).

There will be five days of sport and amusement guaranteed in one of the best spots in the Mediterranean.



MAY 4 - 8

The city of Palma is celebrating a new edition of this regatta for up to nine different classes of boats.

This competition, which is gaining in prestige with every passing year, has been held in Palma since 2004. The tournament includes regattas in the classes Lateen Sail, Adapted Sail, Maxi, Swan Maxi Class, Box Rule RI, ORC International, IRC, Monotypes and Epoch and Classics. The, event is also included on the official 2010 circuit for the Wally class and on the international circuit for the Swan Maxi Class. This is a great opportunity to enjoy sailing in the idyllic Balearic Islands.

Internacional Classical Music Festival of Pollença

AUGUST 4 - 27

The International Classical Music Festival has been held since 1961 in the Majorca town of Pollença, in the incomparable setting of the Santo Domingo Cloister.

This event is an international reference on the classical music festival circuit, and forms part of the European Festival Association; the programme includes the best orchestras and renowned soloists, as well as choirs and opera singers. Attention should be drawn, furthermore, to the quality of the concert stage acoustics, much praised by festival participants.


Regatta Copa del Rey


The King's Cup sailing competition is held in the waters of the bay of Palma de Mallorca. It is one of the major cruiser class regattas in the Mediterranean, and has become a top-level fixture on the international calendar.

The first edition was held in 1982, with some 50 boats taking part, of which 35 were Spanish and the rest from overseas. In 1990, this competition was the first regatta on the international circuit to adopt the new IMS boat classification system. In the 2004 edition, a new category (IMS 670) was established and added to those already in existence: IMS 500 and IMS 600.


WTA Mallorca Open Tennis Tournament

JUNE 13 - 19

Santa Ponsa will be from 13 to 19 June 2016, the headquarters of the WTA Mallorca Open, a tournament of $ 250,000 endowment and will mean for many circumstances a milestone for the Spanish court: it will be the first tournament on grass is played in Spain and world premiere evening sessions on grass since none of the tournaments that are played so far in male and female category (Wimbledon, Queen’s, S’Hertogenbosch, Nottingham, Brighton, Birmingham, Newport …) They have it.

The tournament will be played at the Tennis Country Club Santa Ponsa-Calvia, which will feature 16 tracks, of which six will be grass and a center court with seating for 3,500 spectators. Spain will have two appointments and WTA Mutua Madrid Open and now the Mallorca Open.


Es Firó en Sóller


The second Sunday in May Sóller celebrates its Fair and the next day, Monday, the Firó: the town's most popular festival which commemorates the battle of 11 May 1561. This historic day Saracen troops landed and occupied the town and after numerous combats they were finally defeated by the Soller troops.

Es Firó de Sóller has become throughout these last few years more than just a celebration of a town festival. Nowadays, we could definitely state it is one of the most well-known festivals in Majorca, with an outstanding success in terms of attendance.


Frédéric Chopin Piano Festival

AUGUST 7 - 28

This piano festival has a long tradition running back to 1930. It consists of a series of concerts held in the cloister of Valldemossa Monastery.

Its main focus is on works by Chopin, played by both renowned pianists as well as up-and-coming young talent. Apart from the piano recitals, the festival has other activities such as artistic installations and exhibitions of avant-garde plastic arts, performances, etc. These extras have been introduced to modernise and update the romantic message of Chopin and his partner, the writer George Sand.


The Superyacht Cup

JUNE 22 - 25

The Superyacht Cup Palma is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe and attracts many of the most prestigious sailing yachts from all over the world. The regatta is a favourite with yacht owners, friends, captains and crew who visit Palma de Mallorca annually for the 4 day regatta.


The Night of Saint John


For years now, the tradition on this special night is that people go to the beaches of Mallorca to welcome the summer and celebrate the magic night of Saint John (Sant Joan). A series of rituals are staged, which, according to the legend, give luck all throughout the year to the people that perform them. One of them is the traditional jumping over small bonfires. Another meeting place is Parc de la Mar and Ses Voltes, in Palma, where fire shows and music concerts are programmed.

Sant Joan is the patron saint of several villages of Mallorca, including Deià, Manacor de la Vall and Son Servera, which celebrate it with the typical summer holidays.

Moscow Ballet

JULY 30 - 31

Auditorium de Palma

The Moscow Ballet returns back to the Auditorium of Palma with Swan Lake on the July 30 and Sleeping Beauty on the 31st in its original version. An opportunity to witness again the most beloved public Mallorca ballet. The Moscow Ballet was founded in 1989 by Russian choreographer and dancer Timur Fayziev and has logged over 1,000 performances all over the world. Today it is one of Russia’s most prominent companies and enjoys widespread international prestige.
